About Us

Greetings from Sunny Sri Lanka! Thanks so much for visiting our page! It's still under construction (sorry), and will be completed by 1st July, but your welcome to just read up a bit on what we are about.

This is our journey to do something different and take some great tasting ‘Ceylon Teas’ to new consumers all over the world.

What started as a labour of love to renovating a heritage tea bungalow emerged into a passion to make a tea which celebrates the roots of the tea plantations in then Ceylon! Research into the origins of the estate called “Oddington”, (where our pet project was located) showed a wonderful story linking back to a Village in Gloustershire in the UK, from where the first tea planter came to then Ceylon around 1870 to start growing tea. We left something must be done to celebrate this history!

Andrina and I have a collective experience of over 20 years in tea. Our love for Sri Lankan (Ceylon) tea, and all those little bits associated to the landscape is shared by our three young kids as well.

In the midst of the COVID lockdowns in 2020, with all the doom and gloom, we decided to start a tea factory, develop a brand and take our teas directly to consumers! By November 2021 we made our first batch of tea. Having no prior experience making teas, we had to learn everything on the run. We decided to mirror how the earliest British Planters would have done it, without the internet or many publications on the science at the time. Through trial and error, and a lot of reading (mostly books from early 1900) we figured out how we can become authentic ‘tea makers’. We continue to learn each time a batch is made, literarily looking out of the window and planning on how to make the best tea on the day with the beautiful tea leaves we source directly from small tea gardens, under our direct supervision from plucking to delivery.

The social and environmental footprint of the tea industry in Sri Lanka is huge, easily supporting 10% of the national population and protects all major watersheds of the country! It’s a land rich in culture, very friendly people and an array of flora and fauna, notable specifies include the Leopards. Every Sri Lankan is proud of our tea, and Sri Lankan (Ceylon) tea is without doubt the best in the world! Our venture will make a positive impact on lives and the planet, in our little way – most of our profits will go towards that!
